What is Multiple Sclerosis?

Multiple SclerosisMultiple Sclerosis, otherwise known as MS, is a degenerative neurological disorder that affects the central nervous system. Quite simply your body's immune system attacks the nervous system. This autoimmune  disease attacks the protective sheathing called myelin that surrounds the nerves. This damage leaves scarring called sclerosis. Much like a shielded wire used for electricity, these scarred nerves result in poorly transmitted signals between your extremities and organs and your brain. Depending upon the location and severity of the damage, a patient will experience all different kinds of symptoms. These weakened nerves can result in mild to extreme symptoms.
